Studying with Janice Gunner in East London, I completed my C&G Certificate in Patchwork & Quilting in 2014 and the C&G Diploma in 2017. Once I'd completed the C&G Diploma, I was invited to join ConText, a group of Janice's former students with an interest in contemporary textiles. This group meets regularly, sets group challenges and exhibits bi-annually in East London.
In 2018, I was one of 12 C&G students from across the UK nominated for the QGBI C&G Bursary and invited to exhibit in the C&G Gallery at the Festival of Quilts that year. I didn't win the bursary, but being able to exhibit at such a prestigious event was a wonderful opportunity.
Late 2018, it was suggested I might like to apply for one of the vacancies then arising in The Material Girls. I applied and was successful, exhibiting for the first time with the group in October 2019.
I founded Warley & Childerditch Quilters in 2013, and was one of two different groups of like-minded people who founded Seven.17 Contemporary Textiles Group and Essex Modern Quilt Group in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
A member of The Quilters Guild of the British Isles (QGBI), including the Contemporary and Modern Special Interest Groups, my work is predominantly machine-based patchwork and quilting. However, I enjoy playing and experimenting with all techniques, trying new things and mixing and matching as the fancy takes me. I particularly like working with collage, printing, and vintage fabrics. A challenge to myself is to do more hand stitching and improve my technique and repertoire in this technique.
